Shalva has already gained renown for its support groups.

There’s a general assumption that these sessions are designed for mothers. But did you know that we have support groups for fathers? Grandparents? Siblings?

This year’s round of fathers groups commenced a few weeks back and the session was chaired by Kalman Samuels himself. He shared his experience, strength and hope raising Yossi. The discussion usually begins with fathers trading suggestions for navigating complex bureaucratic obstacles and how to fully exercise due familial rights.

As time progresses, the sessions move away from technical topics and the fathers get a rare chance to explore nuanced and private feelings in a mutually supportive atmosphere.
