Shalva’s first apartment for women with disabilities has opened its doors. This is the third apartment for adults with disabilities that Shalva has opened, and more are in the planning stages.
These beautiful independent living apartments afford the residents an opportunity to build their futures and be participating members of their communities. Enveloped by professional and social support, the residents develop family-like relationships, while living full, productive lives. During the day, the women are involved in either paid or volunteer employment, while in the afternoons and evenings they enjoy a diverse schedule of activities. The residents are involved in grocery shopping and general household chores, under the guidance and supervision of the staff. Each apartment has six residents, and a professional staff of seven, including social workers, an apartment manager and counselors.
Shalva’s high standard apartments and ratio of residents to staff promote quality of life and a stable, long-term independent living solution for adults with disabilities. We wish them well in their new home.
